We complained and they gave in. Capping BW is completely unfair to those who might want to replicate and analyze their 70 gig SQL database locally for various performance enhanecments and run other analysis tools. If you were to do this on Comcast (250 gig limit per month) then it would make any work-from-home impossible and they also can’t guarantee teh speeds of the business class service if the local neighborhood grid is oversold.

Quite simply you cannot promise 7 MB service unless it can run wide open 24/7 as that should be the minimum level of bandwidth available. Nice post Brett.

Well now, thank God they came to their senses. In this day and age how many people would want to be limited in their internet usage with so many things available and happening online today?

With media/entertainment companies hosting more features online, why would any ISP try to limit people or even bill then for this usage?
Rather than limit or bill extra why not enhance your service to offer faster connection speeds which will free up traffic as people will get more down quicker.

It’s the delays in downloading that causes the biggest bottlenecks as things take too long to complete so people stay connected to the source longer.

Where are the people with the common sense to realize these things in these companies and say hey, let’s offer faster connections?

People will pay for faster connections.

Wow.
